Human Right Number Twenty-Four
The Right to Play
We all have the right to rest from work and to relax.
Discussion Topics
Are we guaranteed to the right to all play and no work? Point out that we have the right to rest from work. That doesn’t mean we have the right to play with no contribution to society and the people around us.
Activities
Bring a ball to the club meeting. Everyone stands in the circle and passes the ball around counterclockwise. This is timed and the idea is to get them to pass the ball around as FAST as possible without dropping it. Set a target time for them to get the ball around and have them work as a team to get it done!
Important Note
Resist the temptation to play all 30 human rights videos at this point. Save those for each meeting that follows. Carry out the activities and let your students’ own visions of the 30 human rights materialize as the lessons unfold, one at a time.
