Human Right Number Thirty

No One Can Take Away Your Human Rights

Human rights are inherent and no one can take them away.

Discussion Topics

Do you think that it’s fair that some governments allow you to protest and be critical of them and some do not?

Would you be willing to live in a country where you could be thrown in jail just for peacefully protesting for your Human Rights?

If people know their Human Rights is it easier or more difficult for people to take them away?

Activities

Have the students find three people that have never heard of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and read them their rights.

Going door to door like in the Responsibility video and reading people their rights.

Talk to at least one friend about joining the Human Rights club!

Discuss with the group in the next meeting how receptive people are to learning their Human Rights.

Important Note

Resist the temptation to play all 30 human rights videos at this point. Save those for each meeting that follows. Carry out the activities and let your students’ own visions of the 30 human rights materialize as the lessons unfold, one at a time.
